This role presents an opportunity for a driven individual to be a key part in an early-stage company with a small but growing sales team. This role includes responsibility in generating leads, building and maintaining campaigns, representing Ekidna at industry events, and working with customers through the entire sales process from prospecting to close. The successful individual will own a large part in many of these activities, and will help Ekidna grow its customer base across North America. We are looking for a hands-on individual who is excited to be involved in multiple aspects of the company and who is excited about the potential of an early-stage startup with cutting edge technology.

About Ekidna

Ekidna, a biotech startup located in Ottawa, is bringing rapid sensing technology to manufacturing markets. We provide a simple, rapid, and decentralized industrial testing platform that helps manufacturers eliminate production bottlenecks, reduce operational costs, and bring more valuable products to market faster. Ekidna’s primary market focus is Cannabis, but we have expansion plans for multiple other verticals. Ekidna’s mission is to democratize and decentralize industrial testing so that anyone has the information they need to run their operations as best as possible, similar to what’s been done with point of care testing in the medical field. Ekidna is growing rapidly and offers an exciting opportunity to be a part of a seed stage startup with large potential.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with cannabis manufacturers, understanding their unique needs and challenges, to help them improve their operations
  • Effectively move through the sales cycle from prospecting to closing while managing internal and external relationships and maintaining a solutions-oriented approach
  • Become an Ekidna product expert and understand cannabis cultivation, manufacturing and testing processes
  • Represent Ekidna at conferences and events across North America, and help to manage the logistics of them
  • Perform lead generating activities by reaching out to prospects through calling, email, LinkedIn, etc. and utilizing prospecting and research tools to qualify opportunities
  • Build and implement outreach campaigns with the goal of finding new qualified deals.
  • Provide customer insights to both the technical and marketing teams for areas of improvement in product development, positioning, messaging, etc.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience
  • Must be comfortable making outbound calls
  • Must be able to travel to conferences and industry events across North America on average 3-6 times per year
  • Have an interest in cutting edge technology products
  • Must be able to own your work, take initiative and be confident in your planning and execution with minimal oversight.
  • Sales experience at an early-stage company an asset
  • Cannabis industry experience or other food, beverage, agriculture manufacturing knowledge is an asset
  • Experience in prospecting and list building an asset
  • Experience with CRM and marketing tools such as Salesforce, hubspot Mailchimp, etc an asset
  • Experience in content writing and campaign management an asset
  • Strong personal management skills and initiative. Must be able and willing to learn and adapt to changing requirements in the fast pace environment of a startup.

  • Compensation structure: base + commission + stock options
  • On Target Earnings expectation $61K-$81K
  • Uncapped commission earning potential
